About Me

~Launched in early 2017, born from a dream in my teacher heart to outlet my creativity and ignite a fire in my teaching career. I've established The Green Garten as a community for creative teachers, mamas, classroom helpers, and aspiring wannabees who are looking for an extra boost and maybe a spark of inspiration to help the little kiddos in their lives learn to their fullest potential in a creative way!

If you love kids, the latest Target finds, teacher-life lesson scenarios, and some hilariousness along the way - then you are sure to feel at home here. You already rock, I can tell! Here you can expect real, raw, and comical honesty about balancing teaching and life, the reality of Kindergarten, and activities/ideas available for you to implement on your own.

I want you to know that I'm still learning. I am still learning how to balance my crazy teacher life with my crazy regular life. I'm still learning how not to laugh when someone farts on the carpet or how to answer four questions at the same time. I'm still learning how to teach so EACH and EVERY child can learn the material to their fullest potential. I'm still learning. (But I think that's part of the fun!) I can't wait to share things as I learn and I can't wait for you to come along on this crazy ride with me.

The Green Garten all came about as I began my dream job teaching Kindergarten a few years ago. This was my ideal dream and when I finally landed a Kindergarten teaching job, it seemed as if I was LIVING a dream. I LOVE teaching, it is beyond phenomenal, but I can also see the fire leave teachers easily. I could see their love for their careers get worn down, covered in assessments, paperwork, and meetings. I don't want that to happen to me - I want my spark, my excitement, my energy to remain. So - I knew I needed an outlet that was connected to my classroom; something that would keep me on my toes as I continued to learn, create, and teach my kiddos. Thus, The Green Garten was born!

I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember. Throw an astronaut, a pediatrician, and an author in the middle of the "What I Wanted to Be" mix, but the teacher role was always pretty consistent. :) I spent my days as a little girl playing "school" with my younger sisters, teaching them all the things they needed to know in life. As a teenager, I skipped out on plans with friends to babysit my favorite kiddos - my weekends were filled with Barbies, superheroes, and spit-up - some of my favorite memories. All I know is that I have this huge heart for children! I'm a firm believer that people need to LOVE what they do, so I followed my calling and love for kids and found myself here, a Kindergarten teacher!

I  live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, but I was born and raised a southwest Pennsylvania girl who cheers for all the Pittsburgh sports! I live in VA with my husband, Jared, my Australian shepherd Daisy, and my two cats, Zeus and Iris. My favorite things include Target, Fixer Upper, Vanilla Coke, and all things organization.
